Ethical issues

The Leveson inquiry was legal public inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the British press following the News International phone hacking scandal, chaired by Lord Justice Leveson, who was appointed in July 2011.


The hobbit

- One ethical issue is that in the movies there a scenes of sex which there are majority filled with women which has raised sexism concerns
- They had to stick to the equality act of 1995 which means they cant exclude people from auditions based on race, sex or ethnicity
- 126  respondents out of a group argue that the films transported themes of war, death, and betrayal, which are seen to be beyond the suitability for children to watch
-  People complained about the resolution and speed the film was done at because they claimed it caused nausea. 

 Ethical issues with Game of  Thrones - podcast:

  • Strong language
  • Sex
  • Violence
  • Gore 
  • Horror
  • Nudity
  • Not maintaining correct age requirements
  • Red wedding episode - rated 18: forced marriages,  murder of a pregnant lady with a knife to her stomach.
  • A lot of blood on show
  • You don't see any torn flesh or muscle under the skin.
  • Mountain and the viper episode: Slash of the leg with a lot of blood, strong violence and gore.
  • Screams of pain
  • Very strong and gory images
  • Battle of the snows episode: inappropriate  name of episode, war violence.
  • Stabbings

    During this lesson you were required to listen to the 'Game Of Thrones' podcast and make notes about the ethical issues.

    Then you were required to listen/watch the Levison trial - I can see you made notes about it.

    For your final task you had to look at a film provided in pairs, and research into all of the ethical issues surrounding the film.

    I'm not sure why this work is missing?

    Thank you for including your research about 'The Hobbit' - embedding in an image/the film's trailer would make this far more interactive.
